Two new restaurants have opened up in Westport, Connecticut, a tony suburb of New York City where many people have dinner. As head of a hospitality and travel PR firm, I am constantly on the lookout for new eateries to explore, and the Cottage and Boca Mediterranean Restaurant and Bar did not disappoint. In fact I suspect they will be frequent stops for my family this season.

Boca happens to be in one of our favorite locations, on Main Street, with a view of the Saugatuck River. Often we go there for celebrations of one kind or another, and this evening our family of five will dine there to celebrate my husband’s twenty-third ride in the MS Bike Ride, during which he will cycle for 63 miles.

I felt right at home climbing the stairs to the restaurant when taking my youngest daughter out for a bite to eat. Between the divine Lobster Guacamole, Crispy Artichokes and Branzino, coupled with a savagely cold glass of Sancerre, we were in heaven. When you dine there, make sure to ask for their yummy bread, crusty and ideal to mop up the sauces.

It was also fun to try my hand at speaking some French to the lovely new manager Patrick. Right away I felt at home. The service here was top notch, and while they never hovered, we felt totally taken care of – a refreshing departure from the restaurant that used to occupy this top notch location.

Though I loved Le Farm, it closed after a nice run to make way for The Cottage. With a lovely vibe, clean lines, and a French feeling, this restaurant will surely make a hit with the town. The service was truly friendly and accommodating and we were swiftly moved from bar stools to a table for two.

Seated next to us was a lively four some who whose main course I eyed. When I learned it was the Wagyu Brisket Steam Buns, at $8 per bun, I couldn’t resist. One of the best taste sensations ever, I was truly moved. My husband had the Cottage Burger, with Gruyere and Sriracha Aioli, and then brought home the bread pudding the finish the meal.
