There’s one wonderful spot in New York City if you are seeking a taste of Tibet – it’s the Rubin Museum of Art on West 17th Street in Manhattan.

While staying in Rhinebeck, NY at Old Stone Farm, a wellness retreat and equestrian estate in the Hudson Valley, I decided to have dinner at the restaurant Market Street. As we were being seated at our table who should come in but an old dear friend, Susan, and her husband!

Susan immediately reminded me of our last visit, which was tea at The Rubin at least a decade ago.

The Rubin is one of those off-the-grid places that are a must for anyone interested in Buddhist art. It began as a collection by a couple who took frequent trips to “The Land of The Snows” and searched far and wide for interesting pieces, be they mandalas, statues, or any other special item from that corner of the world. Eventually, they bequeathed their collection once they funded and built The Rubin.

There are other spots in Manhattan, the heart of NYC, and others are creeping up in the other boroughs… like Williamsburg in Brooklyn.

Stay tuned… more to come on “BK!”
