But when it comes to reaching the direct consumer in the visual rich categories of travel and luxury, nothing beats Instagram.

Promoting Your Property Effectively

We use travel hash tags that work for searches, like #traveltuesday, and feature those images that will catch viewers’ eyes. That is why it is essential to have a large and varied image library to utilize in promoting your travel property. Hotels and their area attractions, as well as surrounding attractions including dining and sightseeing venues, make excellent sources.

When we start with a client we always establish an image library, which we can use in all of our outreach, be it editorial or social media. Often, we will recommend additional photography. Also, our team takes more shots when escorting the press to the properties and on the tours. That way we have plenty to use and can avoid repeating any images.

On blogs, which we coach clients on or write ourselves, strong images are very useful. In general the trend is towards images, and Huffington Post has been a huge influence in that regard. All the online media are following that path now.
