If there is one thing that’s certain in the travel PR industry, it’s that travel flash sale sites and apps carry intrinsic value both from a sales and brand awareness building perspective. Sites like Jetsetter and apps like Hotel Tonight, appeal to travelers’ desire for heavily discounted rates, but more importantly spark a sense of wanderlust similar to that resulting from flipping through the pages of Travel + Leisure.

With the millennial generation entering the key business and leisure travel demographic, more travel companies than ever before are looking to appeal to the mobile habits of this large and influential group. Millennials love and trust mobile, with Expedia reporting that 52% of Millennial business travelers booking on mobile devices.

With an eye towards the best rates, ease of use and mobile accessibility, I am naming my top three picks for the best travel flash sale sites that spark wanderlust and drive bookings from the millennial perspective.

A Millennial’s Favorite Travel Sale Websites and Apps

1.     Hotel Tonight – Perhaps my personal favorite of all the travel apps, Hotel Tonight is perfect for travelers seeking heavily discounted rates on day-of –arrival bookings. If you’re looking for a spontaneous stay somewhere tonight, this is the app for you. You can even choose to add a day or two onto your trip, while still enjoying rates up to 70% off.

Personally, I enjoy the ease of use and the manner in which the hotels are presented. Everyday at 9:00 am EST that day’s hotel sales go up for each city. In New York, the hotels are presented by borough, so you can easily find the hotels best suited to you and located in the area you want to stay. Hotels are tagged with labels, such as “Hip,” “Luxe,” “Charming,” and “Basic,” so that you can easily discern a hotel that matches your style.  The best part – in just a few taps on your smartphone your entire stay can be booked and confirmed. Talk about easy!

2.     Jetsetter – Offering new limited-time flash sales on a daily basis that can save users up to 50% off of regular rates, Jetsetter stirs up travelers’ wanderlust unlike any other online travel agent or travel app. The images and virtual room tours, presented in high definition, are eye-candy for any individual with itchy travel feet. While the sales here should always be compared to other sites, Jetsetter holds an editorial value in increasing brand awareness for hotels and travel companies in a way that many other travel sites have not been able to do.

3.     Priceline – One of the originals, Priceline, continues to adapt to bring ease and options to hotel bookings for all generations. With three ways to book hotels – from browsing published rates, accessing the Express Deals feature, or utilizing Name Your Own Price – Priceline’s website and app give you the freedom to choose a booking option that appeals most to you. Choose filters that match your preferences from star ratings to guest scores and even free internet access, and confirm your reservation in no time.
